About this Image

This hand-colored lithograph captures the charm of the scenery nicely in Orra's view taken from the east. She made nine views of the Connecticut River Valley for the "Report on the Geology, Mineralogy, and Zoology of Massachusetts," written by her husband, Edward Hitchcock. Some of the prints appeared in both editions of the report, 1833 and 1841.
