This depiction is Plate LVII, fig. 1, from Hitchcock's "Ichnology of New England." Hitchcock's only comment on this figure was that it is a "reduced sketch" that was reproduced "of the natural size" in the American Journal of Science and in William Buckland's contribution to the Bridgewater Treatises series.
