About this Image

In 1817, Harriet Goodhue created this map, "The World Agreeable to the Latest Discoveries", based on a map found in Jedediah Morse's "Geography Made Easy" (Troy, NY, 1814). Orra White taught mapmaking at the academy from 1813 to 1818, and it is possible that each year she assigned her students this map to copy.
