About this Image

Rebecca Jackson painted this view of Pembroke Castle by copying an 1810 aquatint by Thomas Cartwright after a painting by Thomas Walmesley. The castle is located in southwestern Wales. Rebecca's amateurish skill level is apparent in the size of the child standing on the shore, compared to his parents, and in the fact that the land the castle sits upon does not match its reflection in the water.
