Orra Tours the Isle of Wight

This diary entry was followed by a little pencil sketch of a round basket with a handle.

June 10, Isle of Wight:

Mr. H. wrote a letter home from here. This day has been another full of interest in visiting the cliffs & the needles & Alum Bay. A most delightful sail four Irish miles around the point. Cliffs of chalk 600 feet high, needles, broken pieces of the rock standing out in the water, grand arch, coloured sands. Took our coach again to Blackgang chine. To the Royal Sandrock Hotel. This p.m. walked over the downs, gathered some wool by the way & would have given it to some poor cottager if I had met them. Gathered some tiny flowers, could not name them. This hotel is a palace of a place surrounded with shrubbery, rare flowers walks, groves, rich chairs & sofas. Baskets of flowers growing made of a half barrel wound with vines . . .
