Basalt

Basalt is an igneous rock formed when lava erupts from a volcano or leaks through fissures in the ground. It does not contain fossils, because they cannot survive the heat, and by the time the rock is cool enough for an animal (such as a dinosaur) to walk on, it is too hard to receive an impression.
