Dig Deeper

Edward and Orra White Hitchcock both kept diaries of their vacation to Europe in 1850. On this page from Edward's diary, he notes how many days and hours it took to reach their destination, the weather—"fog—fog—fog", and wildlife seen along the way. Typical of Edward's letters and personal notes, in the midst of his observations is a short list of his ailments.  For more entries from his diary go to the story A Geological Pilgrimage.
